The Woman in the Bible

This series of studies aims to shed light on the woman in the Bible. The reason for this is the conviction that in many congregations women are still seen as subordinate, while the Bible speaks about women in a very different way. Many readers overlook this, because everyone reads the Bible through the lens of their own culture. That is very understandable. Precisely for that reason it is necessary to pause and reflect on the role and position of women in the Bible.

Naturally, the starting point is Eve, the first woman in the Bible and life partner of Adam.

Part 1 - The Woman in the Bible

Eve, her role, her dignity, and her significance within God’s created order. What does her story reveal about the purpose of a “helper as someone opposite him” and about the equality that God intended from the very beginning?

Part 3 – The Woman in the Bible

Paul’s words about women raise questions about silence, authority, and order in the congregation. This study examines these texts in their Jewish-Messianic context and in the light of prophecy and ministry.

Part 2 - The woman in the Bible

Paul’s statements about women are often read as restrictive, but his ministry actually shows an intensive collaboration with women. This study explores their role as fellow workers in the gospel and in the building up of the church.
